While attending college, there are important duties that need to be completed. These are tasks that must be done to graduate and things that will make the learning experience at the school less stressful. Every school is different and applying a particular approach in a small inner city college like Schenectady County Community College would be helpful. Here is a list of 5 things that must be done to facilitate a confident learning experience when attending this college.
1.) Locate Security Desks and Security Stations
Locate all of the security desks and their stations. The school is a big place with many twists and turns leading into other buildings and hallways. There are a few parking lots with a large one that has a field in the back and a couple smaller ones next to other buildings. In the parking lots there are light poles and on some of the light poles there is a security station to alert for help if needed. Security guards are located at 2 main security stations.
2.) Join or Start A Study Group
A good way to earn friends in the college is to join or start a study group. Building relationships with students in the same subject or class will make learning more enjoyable. This makes it possible to share ideas and have conversations about things being taught in class and on the same subject. Sharing ideas and talking about the topic students can learn from each other making the job of gaining friends and studying easier.
3.) Make Sure to Know Where Every Class is and Class Location
Since the campus has more than one location, make sure to know where all classes are The Schenectady County Community College like most colleges is composed of different buildings. Some buildings are connected while others may be in another part of town. This college has a main campus with 5 buildings; 4 of which offer classes and one for student housing. The names of the buildings that offer classes are, the Begley Library, the Center for Science and Technology Building, the Gateway Building, and the Stockade building. Classes are also taught in Center City in Downtown Schenectady, and at Richmor Aviation.
4.) Donate blood (If you can)
If you can, donate blood. A Red Cross Blood Drive may visit the school. A part of learning and achieving goals also includes giving back to others in need. Gaining higher education as an adult involves some sacrifices. Making sacrifices could be losing hours at work to finish a demanding project or missing time with children or loved ones as you acquire knowledge. Giving blood makes it possible for you to go that extra mile to make sure you are doing everything you can to support the community as you make your way through life.
5.) Complete a Graduation Application
As a part of the requirements to graduate, an application for graduation must be done. A graduation application is completed by just filling out a simple form that consists of a few sheets of paper. Some questions inquire into what is the name of the degree you are going for and its expected completion date. Also included is a Student Survey that contains a list of questions about what the student plans to do after graduation, whether or not the school was worth attending, and if the facility and learning resources were satisfactory. The Application for Graduation must be completed and handed in to the appropriate college staff to graduate.
